Italian Sagra – the complete guide

Perhaps you have already heard of it, or perhaps you haven’t. In both cases, if your wish is to enjoy the real Italian food you can not miss an Italian sagra.

Wait… What is an Italian Sagra?

Good question! Literally, the word “sagra” means “holy” but it has nothing to do with religious celebrations. It is a festival where you celebrate food, wine or other typical Italian beverages like grappa (an alcoholic beverage grape-based), limoncello (a lemon liqueur), coffee and cappuccino. Usually, these festivals include also historical recreation or sporting events.

Each month, there are hundreds of Italian sagra in different cities: not only you can taste the local products but you can also learn how to prepare delicious dishes. The cities are full of joy during the parties: it is the perfect occasion for foreign visitors to see and how our culture changes from region to region.
